The double-engine government, referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dispensations in the state as well as the Centre, has aided connectivity in the state and is making lives easier for women, Prime Minister said referring to the development works done by the government in the last five years. 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' is the government’s motive, he said. Thousands of kilometres of railway lines have been set up or inaugurated in the state in the last five years and various bridges have been developed, he said. Work is in progress for a multi-modal logistics hub for business development, he added. "To keep the pace of this growth, progress and development, the NDA government is very crucial," the Prime Minister said.
Slamming the previous government, PM Modi said the tools of communalism and secularism is used by the opposition to hinder the development of government schemes, adding “we work for the people, we work with honesty. Everybody got pakka houses, everyone got toilets, everyone got gas connection without any bias. Our principle is to provide everything to everyone.” "For the first time, a government is working on 100 districts that had been left behind in the race of development under the 'Aspirational Districts' programme. These districts are now aspiring for development and seven of Assam's districts are under this programme," the Prime Minister said.
Modi slammed the previous Congress government for bomb and bandook and said the NDA government will bring peace and development to the state. "The way we have solved long-standing problems, we will continue to find solutions for the current problems. There's a lot of scope for tourism and employment in Assam," Modi said.
He also referred to the Centre's allotment of ₹1,000 crore for the tea garden workers in the state, for whom he said the Congress has always created problems, while the double-engine government he said always worked in the interest of the workers.
Modi urged the people to vote in large numbers in the final phase and reject the ‘Mahajot's 'mahajhoot' and ensure the victory of the NDA government in the state.
The second phase of polling in the state was held on Thursday and witnessed a voter turnout of 74.76 per cent, according to officials. The first phase of the Assam Assembly Election 2021 was held on March 27.
Addressing the people of Assam on Thursday, the Prime Minister used a football analogy to say that the state showed a 'red card' to the Congress-led alliance. He slammed the opposition parties for doing nothing to check the violence in the Bodoland areas of the state and said people bestowed their blessings on the NDA during the first phase.
